peas in a pod.

sigh.

much to my dismay, i was quite disappointed with how the Kaskade concert turned out. the venue was awful. the music wasn't great and the bathrooms (which weren't even bathrooms. they were pitch dark plastic boxes with a hole where you were expected to hover over and hope that all the pee goes in it while avoiding the gross elements scattered about) were of an unspeakable horror. plus, it was so hot and my baby just wasn't "feeling it" because he was still sick and sedated with antibiotics.

the good thing was maya was there and we had lots of fun inspite of everything that was bad about it. i have to say may, the good old days are back. maybe with a little twist to it but they're definetely back. we've traveled the world (or at least to one continent) together, weathered storms, trials and bad hair cuts, been up, down and all around but we still manage to land in the same place. side by side without a care in the world poking humor at the injustices of life.

i have to say. life is good!

on a day like today.

today was quite hard to get through. i woke up this morning with a weird feeling of dread which carried over to unbearable anxiety only to escalate to a waterfall of tears by lunchtime. perhaps it's the sudden absence of cool water rushing between my toes and the smell of suntan lotion a.k.a. end-of vacation blues, that made me feel this way.

like maya, i also woke up too early. i beat my alarm clock by a whole hour. i woke up at 5:30 instead 6:30 but wallowed in my sea of thoughts in bed till about 7:15. questions like "is my life going anywhere?", "am i going to live happily ever after?", "does he still love me?" and "did i really gain weight or is the scale broken?" seemed to follow me everywhere this morning.

it wasn't until i decided to visit my nono in the hospital for lunch when everything seemed to crumble. seeing my once robust and spunky nono reduced to a withered frail body with a spirit half fighting to live and the other half just wanting to concede made the dam of repressed feelings break through.

but i think i needed that cry. the type that lasts the whole afternoon but washes away all the bad feelings of worry and regret. it's been a long time coming and i've been holding it in till now. the very act of writing it down for all those dear to me to read makes it part of the past and something i can let go of.

and no. i haven't had an epiphany of everlasting happiness and i know that there'll probably be more days like this in the future. but like ren said, thank God for Bavarian sugar cookies or the overly flirty Starbucks barrista that tells me i'm pretty or the bestfriend i have that'll have coffee with me tomorrow.

sunkissed bliss

finally.

easter break finally came and we got to go somewhere.

this year it was to bohol. me, stan, jp, carlo, ranny and nina woke up at the crack of dawn thursday morning to catch the 6:00 AM boat to bohol. when we got there, all my "work thoughts" seemed to have cleared my mind and all i could think of was pina coladas by the beach.

our side of the beach was pretty isolated. nothing but coconut trees, hammocks and the beach. this was awesome for a day until we decided to venture to the other side where we discovered that the beach was so much better. sugary sand, no seaweed, and the cabanas were prettier.

plus... the boys almost ruined it by bringing along the playstation 3. nina and i should have checked their bags before we left. it didn't stop till i decided to join in the fun and managed to kicked stan's ass in Fight Night 3. that was the end of him fiddling with that joystick. haha.

the rest of the trip was pretty okay. we went to the bohol bee farm which was pretty interesting. everything they serve there is either homemade or organically grown. I actually ate a salad with bougainvillea petals in it. apparently, they're edible and they make your salad so much prettier. we got massages by the beach and i probably ate 5 pounds worth of food. it's hard to diet when you're with harold and kumar aka jp and carlo with you. stan and i got to do 2 dives. i thought i saw a shark until the divemaster told me it was just a huge trigger fish. the 2nd dive was awesome. it felt like i was diving through an underwater city.

nina kept it flowing with her lemon drops the whole trip so we were pretty buzzed the whole time. jp and stan had their professional cameras with them so we didn't even bother taking any with out point-and-shoot cams. nina and i just posed for pictures. (pics to follow on my multiply as soon as i get hold of jp's camera)

we were supposed to leave for cebu on sunday but when we got the the pier, we all kinda looked at each other and agreed to stay for one more day. it was well worth it. we had one perfect day by the beach.

now, i'm back to reality. but it's not so bad. it feels good being back in my room without jp pulling our toes at 7:00 AM to get us out of bed. i have my nice fluffy pillows instead of having one really crappy one which eventually ended up with stan in the morning.

plus.. i have a kick ass tan.

run run as fast as you can. can't catch me, i'm the gingerbread man!

I always thought the gingerbread man story was part of hansel and gretel.

it took me 25 years and a boyfriend to tell me that the gingerbread man wasn't used as crumbs but actually got eaten by a fox.

i know who penelope is.

After approximately 49 play counts on my iTunes ,not counting the number of times i played this song on my iPod, i finally figured out who Penelope is.

Penelope by Pinback

Oh Penelope
Are you filled with air
Swallowed oxygen
Made you float up?
Is it dropsy?
Will your lungs swell?
It’s depressing me
To see you struggle

Oh Penelope
Are you filled with air
Swallowed oxygen
Makes you float up?
Is it dropsy?
Will your lungs swell?
It’s depressing me
To see you struggle

I’m treading water with my oars
Glass galeons anchored, ocean floors
I’m diving down with all my gear
In search of treasure, para me corazon

Take you to the forest
Let you feel the raindrops falling down
Seeping through your redscales
Eliminate the faucet
Eliminate the need for water
Replace it with a safe shelf

Don’t wanna see you floating upside down
On the top of the bowl when I
Come round to visit you
Don’t wanna see you floating upside down

No girl
Need you there, Need you there, Need you there
Ooh Release that air
(I’m treading water with my oars
Glass galeons anchored, oceans floor
I’m diving down with all my gear
In search of treasure, para mi corazon)

Take you to the forest
Let you feel the raindrops falling down
Seeping through your redscales
Eliminate the faucet
Eliminate the need for water
Replace it with a safe shelf

Ready?

It's a FISH.
