today is the last day of school and after tomorrow's team building exercise, i'll have a weeklong vacation. i can't wait to sleep in late and go to the gym in the mornings and hopefully make a painting or two. the beach is a given i guess. i looked at the forecast and it seems to be sunny days ahead.
hopefully it'll also be sunny days ahead metaphorically. i'm fighting the urge to let bad thoughts creep into my head and rain on my parade. in the words of my dad, if you can do something about it, don't worry and if you can't why worry! instead i'll find solace in the little things, friends, coffee, Marla not giving me grief anymore, downloading the 3rd season of greys anatomy, twix chocolate bars and listening to nice songs.
low point of the day: my mother says to me right as i walk through the door after a long day at work: why aren't you getting married yet?!! you're practically together all the time. why don't you just get married?! and it wasn't in that teasing "kilig" tone. she was actually upset at me for not having a marriage proposal yet. believe me. after managing 60 kids the whole day, the last thing i want to hear is my mother whining to me about my singlehood.
high point of the day: my kids did beautifully in their part of the program. the sang the national anthem (mind you, they're 3 & 4 years old), nobody cried or fell of the stage and they knew all their cues. ella looked especially cute in her pink tutu which she kept showing off by piroutting to anyone she sees.
