stan asked me to go to this dinner at marco polo and halfway before we get there, he so casually announces that zee was "covering" the dinner because his friend steve, the host, who was going to be featured as entrepreneur of the year and needed pics with his uber exclusive EO buddies for the article. and.. he casually mentions his ex was going to be there in our little intimate dinner of 6.
anyway, our dinner was served one elaborately designed morsel at a time in huge white plates in shapes i've never seen. and if being in the company of these super successful, well-traveled, fancy worded people wasn't stressful enough, i was out of my mind starving after being stuck in traffic for almost 2 hours. figuring out which fork to use required extra human strength to review my Tiffany's Book of Manners in my head. i had to use every bit of discipline not to stuff the whole damn "course' into my mouth. plus, i was waiting for candy to breeze into the room looking all primped and pretty and plop down into the empty seat beside stan.
needless to say, dinner was great. it got a bit of getting used to but after a few rounds of wine, everyone seemed jovial and i was quite relaxed myself. thank God candy was a no show or i would have downed more wine than i would have wanted to and regretted it tomorrow.
aside from finding out that you can actually feel full after being served 9 tablespoons of food spread out on 9 plates with wine in between, i actually learned 2 new things. Civet Coffee and Enema. interesting pish posh dinner conversation. i'm too sleepy to elaborate so go google it.
